I have a passion for helping others, and love working with adults, couples, and families through healing and growth.I believe that every person has the necessary resources within to overcome the obstacles in their life. Some complex obstacles, like traumatic events, can create points of fixation based on feelings of fear or helplessness. These situations that are outside of our control can leave long lasting feelings of powerlessness. Part of overcoming traumatic events involves coming to a place of acceptance that these things happened and they are not our fault. We spend too much time focusing on the things we “should” have or “could” have done differently. Whether or not we intend to, we internalize a much of the negative thoughts and emotions we have.

So… how do we overcome that? To start we work to accept these events as things that have happened without self judgement. We then work to create a life for ourselves where the traumatic event no longer holds the power to keep affecting us. That is where the real healing takes place.

Area of Focus
I have a special interest in working with veterans and their loved ones in overcoming trauma, anxiety, depression and the relational issues that may result. After serving 10 years in the United States Marine Corps, an injury forced my life into a different direction. Veterans are a widely ignored population that receive less than adequate care, which inspired me to create change by providing access to quality mental health care. For the last 3 years, I have been working with individuals by helping them process their trauma as well as manage other mental health challenges.

What to Expect
Therapy is a journey we will take together. I am not the expert on your life or your circumstances, but I will work with you as a guide to help you to find your power within to overcome life's challenges. If you are reading this, congratulations, you have already taken the first step down the road to healing. The act of looking for help is where the therapeutic process begins. The next step is the initial phone call where I will ask you some questions to help me to start to understand the kind of support you require. From there we can collaborate on how to best support you and what to expect if we were to move forward together. If you decide that I am not the right fit for you I will happily provide you referrals for trusted therapists. If you decide to work with me, great, we will schedule an appointment and can begin down the path of growth and healing together.
